It’s a big statement, but Caswell House may well be my favourite venue for wedding photography. Every single season, the colours and grounds change to be the most magical mixture of tones and it never disappoints. Not to mention the light that brings the most special golden hour. It’s a wedding photographer’s absolute dream and a total pleasure to capture your joyous wedding day at.
Location
An exclusive use venue set in the heart of the Cotswolds, it’s a building stepped in history and that’s been around since the 15th century, which adds even more magic. The honey coloured stone and ancient orchard is a true sight to behold in the Oxfordshire countryside. And the team as Caswell House truly go out of their way to ensure your day runs seamlessly.
This particular wedding at Caswell House took place on a beautiful autumn day, where the colours in the Cotswolds were as dream like as you could hope. My beautiful bride who works in fashion put plenty of her own touches on the styling of the day that really shone through.
Bridal Prep at Caswell House
Caswell House has stunning on site accommodation making it really easy for finding sleeping arrangements for your guests. The stables which is used as the bridal suite is a beautiful space with lots of natural light and plenty of space for your bridal party and an extra changing room adjacent. The natural light is perfect to photograph details and the beginning chapter of your big day.
Groom Prep
I had the most wonderful second shooter for this Caswell House wedding which meant that both sides of the wedding party could be captured in the early parts of the day!
Details
As much as my camera is mainly drawn to human connection, I also love to capture details in the quiet moment, that help to tell the story of your day. I’m always keeping my eyes open and looking for dreamy light.
Wedding Photography at Caswell House – Ceremony
This lovely couple chose to say their wedding vows indoors and under the streams of fairy lights. It’s such a magnificent room that feels almost dream like. As a Cotswolds wedding photographer, it was everything I could hope for.
S + J had sourced the most incredible crescent moon for the aisle, which really tied in with their ethereal theme for the wedding day. You might have noticed her bespoke veil also by Natasha Nicole, that I absolutely adored.
Once S + J were officially married, the happiness seemed to just spread across the room as they made their way back along the aisle as newly weds. Ceremony wedding photography at Caswell house is so beautiful!
Confetti
Confetti photos have to be one of my favourite wedding traditions. S + J took my advice and went with biodegrade-able paper which gave them the ultimate dream like photos. You may not know this but the confetti that you choose makes a big difference to your photos. Paper has the longest flutter fall, meaning it stays in the air for longer and looks exceptionally magical.
Drinks Reception
Caswell House offers the most idyllic setting for your drinks reception, set amongst the colourful gardens and honey coloured stone of the building, it couldn’t be a more perfect backdrop. And you are spoilt for choice when it comes to capturing those all important family, bridesmaid and groomsmen group shots. This part of the day brings me so much joy to see my couples surrounded by their loved ones, celebrating as finally husband and wife.
Caswell House Wedding Photography – Couples Photos
I don’t think you could quite ask for a more gorgeous setting for your couples portraits. The colours and foliage that adorn the setting at Caswell House are so romantic and wonderful. And when the sun is setting in the distance, the magic comes to life. Wedding photography at Caswell House is a true joy.
This part of the day is so special as it’s usually the first moment you’ve had together alone as husband and wife! (eeek). The energy is pretty electric as you relax and look at each other taking it all in. And that’s what I’m always looking to capture. That raw, love filled, over joyed emotion as it all starts to settle in. With my editorial approach, I will be helping to guide you and I will direct you to the best light and backdrops but the rest is all you and your amazing relationship.
Speeches and Wedding Breakfast
Have you ever wondered why it’s called a wedding breakfast? When the average time you eat on a wedding day is around 3pm? Well the reason is because it’s the first time you eat together as newly weds, so it’s classed as the first meal.
And if you are searching for a delightfully decadent first meal as husband and wife, Caswell House will certainly not disappoint. The in house catering team provide the most sumptous menus that will have you and your guests in food heaven. (I’d call myself an amateur foodie and it’s certainly up there!).
No matter how many weddings I photograph, I’m not sure I will ever stop shedding a small tear at speeches, especially when they were as meaningful as S + J’s. (Shout out to cafe Diana!) The whole room were in fits of laughter and equal measures of tears and I loved every moment. Wedding photography of Caswell House’s wedding breakfast room is a dream.
First Dance at Caswell House
S + J’s evening reception at Caswell House began with their first dance to Paolo Nutini – No Other Way. Their family, friends, bridesmaids and groomsmen gathered around as they shared this moment before opening the dance floor. It was the perfect ending to the story of the most lovely days. (Fun fact – I often listen to your first dance song when I’m editing as I find it helps me feel like I’m in the moment again!)
I always stay to photograph at least an hour of the party as I love to capture everyone letting loose and dancing. I feel pretty at home on a wedding dance floor so you’ll likely see me and my camera in the middle of the floor dancing away with your guests!
How I Work
As an editorial Cotswolds wedding photographer, I have a considered approach when photographing your wedding day. I’m drawn to light and movement and emotion with an aim to deliver you a gallery of images where you can relive and ‘feel’ your wedding day. The run up to your wedding day is where I will be putting the steps into motion to make sure I’ve got all of the important times and information, including group shot combinations. But when your day comes around, I’ll be making sure to capture all those authentic moments including laughter, dancing and all the love between you two and your guests.
